Porsche 917K #19 – Le Mans 1971 Print
The Porsche 917K remains one of the most iconic endurance racing cars ever built. The 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours marked the final running of the race on the original high-speed circuit before major safety revisions, and the last year the 917 competed in its original form at Le Mans due to regulatory changes.
This limited-edition motorsport photography print captures the #19 Porsche 917K during a night-time pit stop at the 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours, with Mike Hailwood involved in the driver rotation before the car’s eventual retirement.
Running as high as third overall, the #19 car encountered severe weather conditions. In heavy rain at Tertre Rouge, Hailwood lost control due to aquaplaning and collided with a stationary Alfa Romeo, bringing an early end to its race. The image captures a moment of tension and endurance racing drama from one of Le Mans’ most significant years.
