Ferrari Dino 246 SP #28 – Le Mans 1962 Print
The Ferrari Dino 246 SP was one of Ferrari’s early mid-engined sports prototypes, developed in the early 1960s as part of the marque’s push toward technical innovation in endurance racing. Powered by a 2.4L V6 engine, chassis #0796TR had already secured notable victories at the Targa Florio and Nürburgring 1000 km earlier in 1962.
This limited-edition motorsport photography print captures Pedro Rodríguez in the Ferrari Dino 246 SP #28 during the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours — one of the few occasions he competed at Le Mans alongside his brother Ricardo in a factory Ferrari entry.
At the race start, the Dino carried the distinctive ‘PROVA MO-49’ plate. ‘Prova’ signified a factory test or prototype vehicle, while ‘MO’ referenced Modena, home of Ferrari. Such plates were typically reserved for factory-backed competition and development cars.
Starting from sixth on the grid, the Rodríguez entry demonstrated competitive pace before retiring after 174 laps due to gearbox failure. The 1962 Le Mans would become one of the final major races the brothers contested together before Ricardo’s tragic death later that year.
